Setting Activities
Navodaya Vidyalaya
Scheme envisages a specific pace-setting role to Navodaya Vidyalayas
play to achieve high levels of excellences through quality of academic
results, communicative and linguistic ability of the children, competitive
spirit and capability, innovative learning practices, developing
correct attitudes and values that help children to groom themselves
to become useful, active and patriotic citizens of the country.
While achieving these goals, adequate care is taken to ensure that
the children keep their linkages with the local community around
them and contribute their help for furthering these values in the
neighbourhood and community.
Navodaya Vidyalayas
are also undertaking several community programmes, like eradication
of illiteracy, adoption of villages for awareness programme of health,
malnutrition, HIV AIDS etc. etc.

Computer
Education to the students of neighbourhood Schools
This is a part
of ICT @ school scheme of Govt. of India. Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti
has taken up providing Computer Literacy to the students of local
schools, neighbouring JNVs. All 461 JNVs which are under Computer
Education Programme (CEP) have taken up implementation of neighbourhood
schools programme. Already most of these JNVs covered two to three
such neighbourhood schools and have plans to cover minimum of 10
schools by the end of 2007.

Games
& Sports
Games and Sports
are encouraged in JNVs to develop fitness, physical and neuromuscular
skills and to promote the spirit of cooperation and sportsman. Apart
from the same, young talents are identified at an early stage and
are helped to excel in their chosen field by specialized coaching
through PETs/SAI Coaches at selected venues.
Samiti organizes
school level, cluster level, regional level and national level competitions
in sports and games every year. Specialized course like, Archery,
Judo and Gymnastic are also encouraged in some of the JNVs situated
in the tribal areas of the country where the same are popular sports.
Navodaya Vidyalaya
Samiti is a state under School Games Federation of India and the
Navodaya National teams compete with other state teams under SGFI
banner. The progress made by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti on sports
front is commendable.

NCC,
Scouts and Guides
NCC is being
introduced in JNVs in a phased manner. Several NCC cadets from the
JNVs have excelled themselves and brought laurels and have represented
NVS in several districts/state and national level rallies/parades/competitions.
Samiti is recognized
as a state for Scouts and Guides activities by BHARAT SCOUTS &
GUIDES. Scouts & Guides are introduced in all the JNVs. Every
year many scouts & Guides of JNVs bring laurels being adjudged
as president scouts and excellent guides by receiving awards by
the Hon’ble President of India.
A total of 503
number of children secured President Award last year.

Work Experience
is an integral part of our curriculum. Cleanliness of the campus,
protection of environment and vocational education inculcate
favorable work values and habits in children. They become
productive and self-reliant in meeting their day-to-day needs.
Manufacture of cleaning materials like Phenyl, cleaning powder,
bathing soap etc help us meet our domestic needs completely.

Art
Education
The Art in Education
programme is an expansion of the Samiti's pace-setting activities.
Besides providing an opportunity for students to inculcate nationalistic
values through cross cultural interchange, it also emphasizes upon
education enrichment and integration with the community in which
the Vidyalaya is located.
Eminent personalities
from the fields, of' the letters, arts and sciences are invited
to interact with students. Students have received training in traditional
art under the tutelage of traditional Gurus and contemporary theatre
directors. Under this programme, a National Integration Meet is
organised every year in which about one thousand children, and teachers,
from Navodaya Vidyalayas all over the country participate.
The Art in Education
programme also aims at enriching the curricula of the formal education
system. It also aims at strengthening universal values and promoting
group activities whereby joy of learning is achieved. It aims at
personality development of students by emphasizing child centred
and result oriented activity:

Music
Keeping in view
to inculcate general talents in music one Music Department is
functioning in this Vidyalaya under the guidance of a music
teacher. In addition to the regular classes, competitions are
conducted to enhance the all round development in the field of
music, dance, drama, literary programmes etc. The talented
students are given training in instrumental music and dance.
